I never knew how much rugs meant to me until recently when I watched the movie Aftersun. There is a scene in the movie where the main character tells his daughter that Turkish/Persian style rugs always tell a story (also other cultures use rugs too). The rug then takes on a different meaning in the movie but I won't spoil it. I think realized that during my whole life, I can vividly recall all the rugs in my childhood home. When I walk into a room, the first thing I notice is the rug. When I touch or lay down on certain rugs, I can recall buried memories. When I was 21 and moved in with my partner, the first house we rented had a beautiful Persian rug left behind by the last owner. I was in complete shock that they left it and when we moved, my landlord said we could have it. I vacuum it several times weekly and often just stare at it fondly and try and figure out what the story is. This rug has come to mean so much to me that I can't ever see myself not having it in the place that I live. I recommend getting a really nice quality rug that can last you a long time.

and the absolute euphoria of being able to to curate and design my space to my liking is on another level. The research, the saving posts of vintage pieces, the planning and measuring, it's gonna be next level. (on that note does anything have any recs for online vintage decor/funiture/light fixtures/etc that's not Etsy?)

Mostly these days I think about furniture, and spend a lot of my time looking at furniture online. I got this beautiful lamp four months ago, and now I match everything to it.
