the Minneapolis DIY sceneās been blowing up the last few years, Iād been chronicling it for work but I think this distills the new Minneapolis sound, very raw, I have had the absolute pleasure of hosting and interviewing them on air a couple time, so to me, this EP is a glimpse into years of a scene coming into its own
Because itās my debut EP and honestly Iām aware that this may seem like it, but I donāt do self-promo ever.
Iām sharing this here because Iām so happy that I released this (finally), and I genuinely think that the community would see themselves represented in this project (deep thinking, spending so long alone making art etc) itās an ep that shares a mutable perspective of loneliness, love of all kinds, ambition and freedom - it is a mostly fictional tale set to music with an unreliable narrator. It also serves as a tiny tribute to literary, musicalāartistic rebellion and innovation of the past. 100% self-produced, engineered etc I wanted it to feel as though youāre opening an old scrapbook, or a secondhand book and perhaps there are suggestions of itās previous owner. Hopefully I delivered that discovering an āartefactā experience.
part one of a collection of music heavily inspired by and laden with symbolism from film and 'glamour meeting decay'. Iām so tired but so relieved that it is out now.
Shameless self promo. Been working on tracking my next release which is an LP that should be (hopefully) out before the end of this year. If you like dream pop, post-punk revival, jangle pop, math rock, and garage rock, this might be ur cup of tea. A good chunk of the music was written when I was in middle school/high school except for my EP Never Better, which was written when I was a freshman/sophmore in college with my old bandmates (my first collaborative release!). I honestly cringe listening to my old music now but I guess that just means Iāve become a better songwriter. The new songs sound so different and I canāt wait to share them. In the meantime, Iād check out Too Close for Comfort, D-emo, and Slow Days.
so much to talk about, the sunglasses, the scarf, the fresh baguette and coffee, the always lovely cafe setting. I think this is the most swag ever captured on camera I aspire to be at this level
