Only exists in print. Picked up a copy from Spoonbill while visiting a friend in NYC bc I wanted to read Meaghan Garvey’s write up on Leonard Cohen’s Death of a Ladies Man. Now I’m hooked and subscribed. Imagine how mysterious and sexy you’ll look reading a newspaper at your local coffee shop. While we’re here might as well double rec: Meaghan Garvey’s newsletter SCARY COOL SAD GOODBYE.
America’s Only Newspaper. $50/year for 6 issues and you can’t find any of the pieces featured online — print only baby! Read about Nabokov’s obsession with butterflies, Meaghan Garvey’s dispatch to Texas to write about Townes Van Zandt, pro-cigarette propaganda, and more! You’ll look so sexy and mysterious at your local coffee shop.
A subscription I end up keeping because I’ll always end up reading all of their various publications (Vulture, the Cut, Gub Street). My parents kept a subscription and I’ve read it forever. I’m not local to New York but something about it feels chic, metropolitan. I bought a sweatshirt they had during a subscriber sale almost solely because it felt like something Carrie Bradshaw would have.
I bought a print subscription and, while I almost exclusively consume the writing digitally, I like looking at the magazines
Leave em on the coffee table, leave em on the toilet tank. flip thru em! Good times
I wish I could re-rec with an image but this is in reply to @MARIAMARIA’s rec. I had to dig way back in my photos to 2022 and find the clay cow tools I made. Unfortunately, I abandoned them so they never got fired but maybe I’ll re-visit the project once I can afford pottery classes again.
