had to pick this up after watching American Fiction and never have a seen a movie live up to the premise of the book and a book take you deeper than what the movie gave it has everything: dementia, coming out of the closet, identity crises, grief and loss of loved ones, the negotiation of identity vs mass media, breaking or ironically reaffirming racial stereotypes, trout fishing, too much more to list

Incredible satire that was adapted into American Fiction. The movie is good but the book is way better

i read this book (kinda, i gave up half way through because i started to fail spanish class because i was too busy being faux mysterious) and it was moving, but this movie is SO good!! like it hit every note it needed to, the acting is phenomena, a testament to the strength of love and kindness
