i think this was one of the first albums in the genre, and it still holds up. he also reased an entirely instrumental version of the album 3 ish years ago that is also very good
dropped last night! this is not a full rec though bc i haven’t liked most of the songs i’ve listened to yet… the sound is a bit different from the toro y moi songs i tend to enjoy
Still thinking about a solo night at Seattle‘s JarrBar in 2019 where the bartender was playing records and put this on. At that point I hadn’t listened to the record in years but it reignited my love of it, as well as reiterated the transcendent experience a good bar/bartender can facilitate. It’s a top-5 bar moment for me, and I don’t take that lightly.
Anything Toro y Moi is pretty much heaven sent, but Soul Trash is the culmination of all the things you love in electronic, dance, trap, and ambient music pressed into a nice panini.
i love going places with my friends, but sometimes you just gotta do it by yourself. make new friends. read a book. live a little! you wont know until you try
i went to school in maine! a lot of the coastal towns (rockland, camden specifically) are really cute and fun to drive through during the off-season. much more peaceful…
portland is also great - was recently there and went to the Washington St Baths (like a spa with pools at different temperatures) which was a divine experience. also much better coffee in portland than anywhere else in the NE (including Boston)
a lot of people like the 501s, but they are sneaky wide and look silly on longer legs. the 505s are more tapered - i wear ‘em to the office every day. they’re also dirt cheap!
