This past week I went to Film at Lincoln Centers Rendez-Vous with French Cinema and saw some amazing films. Contemporary French cinema is doing really amazing, creative things...
It's so important to interact with media outside what you regularly interact with. If you liked Anatomy of a Fall, there's a chance you'll like some of other films that came out recently. My top 3 are: La Vénus d'argent, Un métier sérieux, and Le Règne animal.
I suggest looking for a list of French New Wave films and watch what interests you. Here are some French films I liked tho La Haine Eric Rohmer’s four seasons series Eric Rohmer’s six moral tales series Je tu il elle Cleo from 5 to 7 or anything directed by Agnes Varda Cold Water
just some of my faves:
- One Sings, the Other Doesn't (dir. Agnes Varda)
- La Piscine (dir. Jacques Deray)
- Visages, Villages (also Varda. she is the best)
- Diabolique (dir. Henri-Georges Clouzot)
- Passages (dir. Ira Sachs. maybe not a "fave" but a modern one and def interesting!!)
- Une Femme est Une Femme (dir. Jean-Luc Godard. Only movie I've seen of his that I've liked lol my anti-rec is Breathless)
I love taking my sweet time when getting ready to go out. Playing every single song on my playlist.. enjoying a glass of wine. It's just the way it has to be🤌🤌
