hmm i think with everything being so fast paced and like easy to digest when u find something that just really resonates with u i think u should just let it wash over u like a wave. call it a hyperfixation or a phase but if u just really enjoy something (like an album or a movie) there needs to be some time to really savor it before going into the next thing.

It no longer rules your life, lingers in the back of every thought, controls your free and occupied time, makes you feel like an utter pervert in the extent to which you seek out interviews and any online presence, nor sends you into an existential frenzy as to whether you have a crush on or want to be this person. You’re free! And now that you’re not wholly consumed with some talented stranger you can go back to enjoying the work the way you did right before it turned into a full blown obsession but now there’s a warm fondness from the time and intensity you’ve given to this thing you now know you love, the love that now makes this thing (album, movie, book, artwork, etc) a part of you and loving it is almost like loving yourself—hearing the song in public is like hearing the sound of the soft animal of your body (subdued to a whisper) and that’s all it is! something tender, something remembered, an embrace of something deeper, but not as destabilizing as it once was.

being in a new hyperfixation phase is so fun and exciting. it's also painful because the interest is so intense that i almost don't know what to do with it, and a part of me dreads the moment the obsession will inevitably start to fade...

allow yourself to enjoy rabidly and rampantly! allow yourself to be consumed by love! be healthy, take care of yourself, but don’t limit your enjoyment of the thing you currently find most beautiful if it brings you joy

u gotta just show up at the same places consistently. if someone sees u at a place long enough they'll either end up talking to u or u'll talk to them by virtue of just occupying the space. this can apply to almost anything so like the gym, dance classes, art studios, cafes, bars, clubs, book clubs, town hall meetings, etc personally, ive been going to the same rock climbing gym and even though i suck at it (and im really really bad at it) ive met a couple of rlly cool ppl from there. but yeah its much easier said than done, bc life can get in the way of that consistency. but if u rlly try at it i think u can meet some cool folks.
