I was skipping around because I just decided I can’t listen to KROQ play “Comedown” ever again, and I landed on the Jazz station. I’ve kept it there for a couple weeks now, and I think it makes driving much more chill. And when I have a coffee, it feels like I’m in a Panera Bread or Barnes&Noble cafe. It’s nice.

Step 1: acquire sweet car with a FM radio Step 2: allocate way more time than you think you need to travel from place to place so you can avoid the highways, it's carnage up there anyway Step 3: chill out and listen to these stations while driving. K-Jazz makes you feel like you're Clint Eastwood in "Play Misty for Me" and may not be available in some neighborhoods coz the transmitter is in Long Beach. KDAY is available everywhere and will play "Hollywood Swinging" by Kool & the Gang approximately once an hour. ALSO: Henry Rollins does a weekly nerdy music show on KCRW 89.9FM which is fun to listen to if you mainly know Henry Rollins from listening to Side B of "My War"

A lost art to many young people. Streaming fatigue claims millions of lives every year, let somebody else choose the music for a while! In my first year living in a new city it’s been a great way to feel a bit more local as well, my favorite LA stations are KJAZZ 88.1 and KXLU 88.9. It’s so fun to flip through the airwaves and just listen to a bit here and there, not having to commit to anything or think about it too hard.

My morning routine consists entirely of gulping down coffee and listening to WBGO, NY and NJ’s premiere (and only) 24/7 jazz radio station. I started the habit at the beginning of the pandemic thanks to a rec from my friend Trinity (who runs Golde with her partner Issey) and the combination of soothing jazz + energizing coffee is too good to quit.

Here is a piece that I am livestreaming indefinitely on youtube. It’s footage from basically everywhere I’ve been in the past 3 years or so. All over America. YouTube is really a blessing; even if it was _just_ a storage platform for video it would be above and beyond anything else. I really recommend finding ways to make stuff for youtube.

“The best thing you can be in life is tipsy. There’s four things you can be in life: sober, tipsy, drunk, hung over. Tipsy’s the only one out of the four where you don’t cry during it.” – James Acaster

TooGoodToGo is an app that connects you to local businesses to buy unsold food for cheap. It’s especially good in NYC.
