Been listening to this on repeat lately. It’s a mix of both intense post punk, and some very tender duets between musician duo and real life couple Jake Lazovick and Sharleen Chidiac. I had the pleasure of seeing them live at their EP release party at Baby’s All Right, and they had one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. There’s something so special seeing a group of musicians who have so much love for each other, and are so in tune with each other that when seeing them it’s an almost transient experience.

such a gorgeous album, somewhere in between familiar shoegaze and UK trip hop. the siren vocals, the massive attack beats, the field recordings. perfect album. i’ll be at the philly ortliebs show end of march, probably solo probably weeping but in very dignified and compelling way

I know this album cover is imprinted into the corneas of many already. but I’m listening to this ~8 yrs after I first found it, which sort of marked the start of my own self-discovery w music (along with, who else, but velvet underground). and since they are both so huge, I’ve had a hard time listening to them as earnestly in years since. of course relationships with music change, but I think I became embarrassed by the earnestness of this album & its internet overexposure. but it is sincere and beautiful (+ a little freaky and smutty) and it is very special to come back to every now and then. it turns on a certain part of my soul I can’t usually access when I come to it at the right moment. full of love and oneness w humanity, time transcendent “let us lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we can see”

I got into this like a year ago after someone on instagram put me onto it but they played at The Broadway in Brooklyn last weekend and I am truly sad that I didn't make it out to this one. This record is really good, worth listening to all the way through. Its intense at times but spacious at others and I really like how the production makes you feel like you are in the room they are playing it in. It sounds like a lot of stuff that you might like, like MJ Lenderman, Horse Jumper of Love, Greet Death or Knifeplay but it sounds like its own thing and its done well.

Poet & songwriter best known as the frontman of “Silver Jews,“ and the lesser known “Purple Mountains,“ Berman has a way of exploring the beauty in the darker aspects of life. Berman tragically took his in 2019. He had such a special way with words both as a poet and a songwriter. My favorite song of his, “Famous Eyes” is linked above.

Founded in 1995, Broadcast was an English band that drew influences from 60s psychedelia, electronic, and experimental music. Following the death of their lead singer in 2011, Broadcast has found a new life and a cult following due to the mystery surrounding the band. I’ve linked my favorite album, Tender Buttons above.

Due to the involvement of the US Military Sponsoring SXSW, many bands and artists have opted to pull out of SXSW as protest for the ongoing genocide and Ethnic Cleansing in Palestine. I’m very proud of my friends from Perfectly Imperfect and Baby’s All Right for dropping out of SXSW, and for standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Free Palestine 🍉
