There is something beautiful about figuring out these things on your own, even if it's wildly different from what the filmmaker intended

I just watch Tarkovsky’s Nostalgia on my day off work (I’m sick) and I’ll be honest I didn’t understand a lick of it. Poetic, beautiful, this made me feel something but I don’t necessarily understand what it was trying to say or what it meant. But is there a concrete meaning to art in general? I suggest that we try and leave behind our urge to over analyze films, something adopted from English classes in middle school, and rather adopt a feeling based approach. Rather than look to someone else to tell you what something means on the ol youtube or reddit, let yourself sit in that not knowing. How does it make you feel????

I also enjoy going into a film knowing nothing about it but sometimes it helps to narrow it down when you have a list of potential movie options. This can also be particularly helpful if you are watching with other people and a decision can be made based on what movie vibe everyone is feeling.

One of the few apps with no ephemeral "story" feature or whatever so you don't need to check it every 24 hours. Cherish this.

It's just like John Swartzwelder said: "Since writing is very hard and rewriting is comparatively easy and rather fun, I always write my scripts all the way through as fast as I can, the first day, if possible […] Then the next day, when I get up, the script’s been written. It’s lousy, but it’s a script. The hard part is done."
