When I buy an awesome sticker, I often get stuck on the ephemeral nature of whatever I might stick it on. Imagine the pain of a carefully curated set of them being applied to a water bottle over several months only to be left behind at a coffee shop or forgotten on top of a car and driving away. Enter The Sticker Box™️. It's just a repurposed cardboard box filled with all the stickers I have accumulated over the years from wonderful artists, destinations, and events. It's such a improvement knowing I have a lifelong collection in there, full of un-adhered promise. I no longer need to worry about committing a sticker to an impermanent object. Needless to say, I recommend The Sticker Box™️ to everyone. Now if only I could remember where I put mine...
I use a specific drawer but yes, I agree! For sticker application I have resigned myself to only applying stickers to my toolboxes and water bottles And I do so with minimal premeditation. This is the way. Don’t be precious with them because you will never put them on anything. Get a good stock pile going in your box or drawer and then When the mood strikes, let em fly
love this bc sometimes i feel like if i stick a sticker somewhere it becomes like? part of my identity? and then it becomes stressful if it’s like, yeah on a water bottle or something that i take everywhere. like maybe that sticker speaks to who i am in some moments but not all… but i still need my water bottle!! actually writing this out has made me realize this was a large cause of dehydration for me….
mouse I had an idea for an invention that would unstick stickers and restore them to their original state, but it's essentially a time machine, and I don't have enough resources or knowledge of conceptual physics.
Using my stickers. It falls in to the category of “there will never be a perfect time/ place/ whatever.” There will never be a perfect, forever place to put my stickers. You just have to do it. Worst case- buy some more.
remembered that I have a big ol bag of stickers in my desk that i’ve accumulated over the years and i’ve been finding more surfaces to put them on. makes for good decoration, I feel like a minimalist dive bar bathroom but in a nice way
personalize your stuff. let everyone know it’s yours. show people what you like. start a conversation about their stickers. make a new friend. water bottle? more like place to put more stickers. mac book? more like sticker book. love the things you love. show them off. slap your friend’s band’s sticker on your suitcase. put a goofy bumper sticker on your car. the meaning of life is to decorate!! this is my laptop, my pride and joy. and proof that i have no self control. :D
Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️
Liner Notes:
This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
