I've been going here since I moved here and I really like it. Haircuts are like $30-40 and all the guys there are pretty friendly and do a good job. I mostly buzz my hair though so maybe take that into account. It's also cash only.
It's a block or two away from a lot of food too so you can make an excursion out of it if you want.

When I was an editorial intern at PAPER in college, I sublet a room in Clinton Hill for the summer and would stop by Choice Market every morning before heading into the office (sweaty, nervous and eager). I recently moved back to Brooklyn from LA and found my own apartment in the same neighborhood, just down the street from Choice, which I took as a full-circle sign from something somewhere to follow and lean into. Everything is worth trying on the menu, and one of the baristas has giant, featherdust eyelashes that make my black coffee purchase a bit more exciting.

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
