I went to the neighborhood laundromat yesterday because my dryer is broken. I forgot how much I love the sound of the machines and the smell of the soap and people simply waiting in companionship. Laundromats as a common ground. Laundromats as a third place.

They're kind of a really relaxing place to be in tbh.

The laundromat is where I catch up. I read my book or just sit in the sound bath of cycles. I’ll take a phone call or two with distant friends if the laundromat is packed or empty. Pictured here is an exceptional load of laundry from years back.

Despite my past fears, I have spent the last year leaning to love bugs. Researching bugs and looking for them on my walks and noticing noticing noticing. Things are less scary when they aren’t unknown! The world is more beautiful when you appreciate the things that make it work! To be alive is to be in community with the wild world around us! Bugs are cool!

Kiss your partner on the forehead! Kiss your friends on the forehead! Their whole personhood is just below the surface reeling and thinking and feeling! Press yourself close to who they are and make them feel loved!
