Neon Genesis Evangelion

I always want to recommend this at risk of someone actually watching and going “that Taylor, she’s a weirdo” except most of the REALLY weird stuff you have to get through 90% of the series to see so maybe they’re the weirdo! Watched it for the first time roughly a year ago, saw “End of Evangelion” in a sold out theatre tonight and my love for this show immediately came rushing back.

You gotta love to be loved. You gotta make a risk for real human connection - it’ll never come easy. You gotta be dumb, vulnerable, apologetic, angry - you gotta live. You gotta love to be loved and sometimes you need to see big robots duking it out with aliens to remember that.

(And not the movie) A weird one for certain but watching Shinji come to terms with his own difficulties reminds me of myself at that age and serves as a great reminder of the power of mindset.
