Roam around Marais, the 11th and the surrounding areas. These are the most hip neighborhoods in Paris, which have a very local-oriented lifestyle (boutiques with handmade stuff and trinkets, local coffee shops, bars, delis and restaurants where you can easily make friends including the staff). Lots of authentic food from around the globe. + Jewish and Chinese districts (Marais), Muslim (Belleville, the 11th) Some of my faves: Pili Pili, Au Petit Garage, Le Chat Noir, Orange Mecanique and their neighbors (Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud and Rue Oberkampf), Le Progres, L'etincelle (bar), L'etoile Berbere, Nour (Middle-Eastern food), Babka Zana (bakery), Aleph (patisserie + rose/orange blossom/pistachio lattes!), Da Vito/Moonshiner (Pizza/Speakeasy), L'epicier (Middle Eastern-style speakeasy), Gem la Patisserie (Southeast Asian macarons, which unlike Laduree are freshly made every day) P.S. La Gare is a bit far, but it's the best jazz club in Paris.

BOULANGERIES 🥐 Victoire (9th arrondissement) and Pépite (11th arrondissement) both have authentic pastries at good prices with outdoor seating to enjoy the sun. MUSEUMS 🪽 (that aren’t the Louvre) Orangerie or Rodin!! I loved both. RANDOM 🍯 Aristivas gallery in the 8th, ZXSBN6DD3VZBGSY thrift stores (complete store refresh every Friday), cycling next to Canal St Martin (or just sitting there!!) and going to Parc des Buttes-Chaumont!!

You’ll be there at such a nice time of year! I studied abroad there years ago so don’t have specific galleries or wine bars to suggest, but more broadly, here are some of my favorite off-the-beaten track neighborhoods: Belleville and Buttes-Chaumont, southern part of the 14th by Parc Montsouris, 17th into Neuilly, and just generally following branches of the canal. My favorite thing to do there is just walk 10-20 miles a day in quieter parts of town and just get a croissant/baguette/treat of choice wherever fancy strikes (with an extra plug for going to neighborhoods like Belleville where you can eat from different cuisines). I wonder if this is considered touristy at this point, but go see Angela at the Banh Mi shop by République (I think Rue Turbigo) for the best one I’ve ever had. Ugh have so much fun and you truly can’t go wrong!

Facebook groups are too isolated, and Instagram too commercial.
