Stories - the cutest bookstore with a cafe in the back Canyon Coffee - you will see the hottest people ever walk in and out of that place plus their toasts are delicious & then go next door to cookbook for a delicious sandwich Echo Park Lake - i love walking the perimeter (about 1 mile) and seeing all the baby geese The Douglas - best bar!! The outside patio is so fun & they do play the best music Carroll Street - walk through and you will see the most beautiful victorian houses Offe Market - my favorite clothing store in all of LA. They sell tons of overstock from smaller brands like baggu and lisa says gah! ok i have many many more recs for this old beloved neighborhood of mine so just let me know if you want more <3

Idk about underrated bc i feel like everyone knows la but some of my favorite things are larchmont village (grew up going here. super walkable, rip the blockbuster), tamales lilianaโ€™s (good/predictable mexican food; mostly just convenient/reliable spot to get tamales), ballona creek bike path (can rent city bikes at the beach and ride through from culver city to redondo), the getty museum is goated, and the central american food scene is tight in mid city too (mostly speaking in terms of the guatamalan dishes bc thats where i grew up going, gonna gate keep the name of my favorite breakfast spot bc it gets packed as is but hint: itโ€™s on washington and western)

Let me start off by saying I experienced my sexual awaking at age eight watching JJ Abramโ€™s 2009 reboot of โ€˜Star Trekโ€™. This is important context because Iโ€™d like to stress that living in Los Angeles, especially working at various Instagrammable establishments, you see celebrities frequently and itโ€™s usually nbd. I work at an art gallery so we get our fair share of B listers (Joe Jonas, Tyler the Creator, Natasha Lyonne, etc) who come in from time to time. But none have rocked my world to the extent of Mr. Pine. Fifteen minutes before closing, he breezes in with an entourage of three: two menโ€” one average looking guy and the other looking (and acting) exactly like Roman Royโ€” and a woman: so slender and so attractive it was like like they had plucked her straight from a Paloma Wool runway show. This is not even to mention Mr. Pine himself. He was a force. His stride was ten feet long DEFYING PHYSICS. His designer loafers clopped around the gallery floors as he commanded every particle in the room as all his own. He wore a forest green suit easily worth more than my entire yearโ€™s salary, drenched in a patchouli cologne so hostile it added another layer of might to his already god-like aura. Shortly after entering, he approached me at the desk asking for a pricelist. I opened my mouth but no words came out. I wondered if he could see in my soul that I had written a piece of fan fiction ten years prior with him as the central character. Truly a world-shattering interaction.

Get ready for big thrills in the smallest scale imaginable. Enter into the only shop in Manhattan that sells exclusively doll house miniatures. Plates of charcuterie, wooden magazine racks and sewing machines that actually work (!) all at a 12 to 1โ€ scale. Also walking distance from Central Park :-)
