I have been making monthly playlists for the past 4 and a half years, I do not skip months. They have been the most consistent tracking of my life over this time. There are a few rules, no full albums can be added and no songs can be repeated from past playlists. They range from 10 to 30 songs. I can tell how I was doing based on the number of songs and how congealed the musical narrative is. At this point they are habit, I make them to listen to during each month but I also make them to look back on. Producing a nostalgia for each month of each year. There are no overarching themes and these playlists decentralize my music taste, the yearly review lacks month to month consistency.

ive been making them for almost three years. basically whenever i find i song i rly like i put it in my playlist for that month - the playlist usually ends up abt 2 hours long. i have a rule tho that if a song has gone in one playlist, it cant go in a monthly playlist again. it forces me to consistently find new music and im sure if i didnt have them i would be stuck listening to the same stuff over and over.

i’ve been doing this since 2018 and it’s so cool to see my music taste develop and improve since then, documented month by month! i add songs that i’ve been listening to a lot or songs that were recently released, just whatever i’m in the mood for that month! and i can also kind of revisit times in my life by listening to an old month playlist. also, at the end of the year i compile that year’s monthly playlists into a year playlist, and it’s like a longer and more comprehensive wrapped playlist!
They're all labeled by month/year. usually music that's new to me, sometimes there's a theme, sometimes I end up not liking the songs at all. but it's always something i can go back to and say 'yes, that was february 2021'. Here's a link to february 2021

Unable to keep up with text massage conversations consistently with my schedule, I am looking to develop a correspondence through postcards. My dear long term-long distance friends who I’ve wrote to, have proven to be poor pen palls. As of now I am considering opening it up to estranged best friends and random instagram followers, I believe this is my new frontier for social connection. This was only intensified by the Cruising Utopia chapter on the New York Correspondence School.

I love the focus of everyone in the room, for 5, 10, 20 minutes at a time everyone is just there, observing and drawing. I do it only for me, it is not for a class and it is not a skill I am in desperate need of improving. I make work, some good some bad, and I enjoy the act of making and the grounding it gives me. I like the vulnerability of the space, there is no hiding the work you’re making. As an architecture student I do not trust the art students who do not come to the open figure drawing sessions, like what are you scared of?
