want to preface that i don’t hate the concept of reusing them. my issue is that at this point, they are starting to feel like a regular plastic bag and i have too many in my closet now. i would rather a store that doesn’t use plastic bags invest in paper bags because then i have more uses for it. love Trader Joe’s bags because not only can i recycle them, i can use them for other things like shipping small packages, compost, or using it as kindling for fires. most reusable bags from the store are single use and can’t be recycled efficiently again. especially with using meal or grocery delivery services, sometimes the restaurant invests in a plastic reusable bag with cute branding that im NEVER going to use, or an aldi instacart order and the shopper gives me reusable bags instead of grabbing cardboard boxes to hold the food. i am in a conundrum here and i want out 😂 its getting to the point where i want an actual plastic bag so that i can at least use it to deep condition my hair or recycle it at the grocery store
Each of my bags I take grocery shopping with me tell a story, usually of a time I forgot to bring enough bags. I got my three standbys over the course of living in New Hampshire. I am fond of them. — Market Basket/Demoula’s bag (IYKYK)
— Trader Joe’s low yellow canvas bag (with a waffle on it)
— Trader Joe’s New Hampshire-themed bag (with recipe on the bottom that no NH natives I’ve spoken to have heard of)
i tend to save my good underwear for special days and parties and first dates. i also tend to save my stickers and expensive perfume and contact lenses for the same reason. but regular days deserve to feel good too
