i believe infinite scrolling is a bad idea if you care about users rather than just user retention, the advent of infinite scrolling has been one of the downfalls of the internet
shaar i didnt mean to sound accusatory, i meant that that's why big media apps/sites do it. while you could call having a 'next' button more inconvenient, i on the other hand think it allows for users to be more conscious of their content consumption and facilitates taking a break.
shaar yeah thank you for putting in this into words me being snarky wasn’t helping, but I definitely see it as taking advantage of the user because it like hacks their dopamine pathway. It’s well documented on the Internet, but you know that that’s why you’re posting this.
brand new feature just dropped on web + mobile (thanks to mitchgruen)
recs will now show a couple similar ones below and a couple top recs from the person who posted it
PI.FYI is now easier than ever to get lost in. honestly feels like a whole new site
there's a new "explore" style page with asks from your friends, rec with links to check out, recs & asks that are hot with your friends, people you may know, and more ... there's also a new sidebar on the app home screen that cleans things up a bit and makes it easier to get to drafts, saved + likes recs, your invites, top music/movie/book recs, and more update your app to see it
tomorrow PI.FYI launches to the public this project is the result of thousands of hours spent coding everything from scratch after I got laid off six months ago no thiel-bucks or weirdo outsider money, just a pure desire to make something fun and true to Perfectly Imperfect’s day one goal of helping people find new things from real human beings, not algorithms or AI a pure labor of love that I’ve been quietly plotting for two years and it’s completely self-funded from my (rapidly) dwindling savings account so thank you for coming along for this weird ride 🫶 let's see where it goes
