if i like something, i'm usually grateful for it and, in addition, i want to share it with others so that they too can enjoy it. sitting down in the evening and thinking about what brought me joy that day so i can share it here has became something i've been looking forward to for the past few days. it's been making me pretty happy fyi.

I tend to have the most words when I'm angry, upset, or hurt. My journals, notes app, and artwork all can attest to this. When I'm happy life is easier, I don't need to write to feel sane or rationalize my feelings. I sleep well, I eat okay, I see people. I'm busy, I'm content. But this has the unfortunate side effect of not having my happiest moments stored in as much detail as my worst ones. I can find 22 notes entries with the word heartbreak but only 5 with the word delight. PI FYI is encouraging me to document the good. And I know I will appreciate being able to scroll through the things I liked this year in a way that I haven't been able to before.

using the flip phone notebook that my friend made for me as a sort of gratitude journal. somewhere to write good things that are happening or have happened in my day. trying to make this a daily thing because i have found that i feel much better when i do it

seeing a movie on a huge screen (as most directors intended it to be seen) and just indulging in approximately 2 hours of pure uninterrupted escapism without anyone to worry about (plus supporting your local cinema at the same time). works best with "slow" films where the scenes linger. total bliss.

i don't know who needs to hear this (me. i need to hear this. i wrote this rec for me.) but late-stage capitalism influencers reaaaally want you to believe you need to have this whole grand 15-step skincare routine with all the little gadgets and gizmos or you are doing something fundamentally wrong. hear me out here - you are fine. the only thing they are contributing to is the ever-growing need to consume and the systematic destruction of your skin barrier. as long as you wash your face regularly and put on some sunscreen every morning, the rest is mostly just for the vibes.
