I’ve been living with my friends for the most part this year, and tbh when our timings align and you get to have breakfast altogether or when it’s nighttime n you got your buddies to smoke and talk with, that’s what keeps me young…

i have friends for coffee, friends for late nights on the town, friends for smoking weed and playing smash bros, friends for long walks, friends for long talks it’s not that i compartmentalise, it’s just that i meet my friends where they’re at, and that seems to work for us

there’s something so satisfying about a lengthy hangout. there are so many shifts and unspoken compromises between people, roles assumed and forfeited. it’s just awesome, i love my friends.

A lot of my friends live in a different state than me and I take the train up to see them semi-regularly, which gives me something to look forward to often and makes hanging out feel extra special. I’ve also found that by coming to town local friends are brought together who otherwise may not have seen eachother for a while because life in proximity can often shake out to a “I can always see them next weekend” mentality. Visiting helps to sustain an intentionality to my friendships’ which I like and think is important. Having friends visit is also very sweet and a rewarding experience that makes my heart swell. Additionally, having sleepovers as an adult is rare but sleeping next to your friend and having a coffee in the morning is a top tier experience which is not going to go wasted on me.

i think everybody hates small talk, but everybody is also very different from each other, I guess it’s a matter of being understanding with the person or people you’re talking to at the moment. But I do think that personal questions and talking about real life experiences is what gets conversations going, it’s also what makes you remember people and want to reconnect with them. when talking to somebody new there’s nothing better to a first impression than someone who engages and listens. We get what we give so might as well give as much as we can.
