yeah sometimes it’s $10-$15 for three bands you’ve never heard of but mostly it’s a night of new music, fun experiences, and cool people you would've never met otherwise. My band is playing at Arthouse Gallery in Berkeley.

Can't vouch for any of these bands but here's a relatively inexpensive one in North London tonight at one of my fave independent venues... or check the Another Subculture listings for more

i’ll mostly list small or medium-capacity venues that host relatively cheap shows! mostly 18+ or all ages: - trans pecos - mercury lounge - bowery ballroom - tompkins square park or maria hernandez park sometimes hosts free shows
occasionally has 18+ shows, but is 21+ most of the time: - baby’s all right - market hotel (usually earlier shows that start at 7pm aren’t 21+) - elsewhere - le poisson rouge - gold sounds
highly recommend going through each of the venue’s websites and sifting through the show listings to double check! also the oh my rockness website and bandsintown are great places to check for shows happening tonight in your area and stay on top of shows!

people who aren’t physically here or don’t have an open mind won’t get it. some people even live here and refuse to understand it. beneath the tech mist is a burgeoning art/music/creative scene reminiscent of the early days. it’s the place to be and it’s gorgeous! you can surf, skate, snowboard, hike all in the same day then catch your buddies band at kilowatt! i love it here!!
