I’m the only one of my immediate family that can donate so I’ve been doing it since i could and try to do it every time im eligible again! Briefly took a break bc it started taking a toll on me during my marathon training but yesterday was my first time back. Gives you an excuse to lounge around for the day while giving back to those in need! Props to those that do platelet donations too! I’m too fidgety and frankly terrified of platelet donations but give it a try if you can!
Feeling upset about the state of the world? Feeling powerless to help? Try taking action by donating blood and directly saving up to 3 people’s lives. I used to have sooooo much fear of needles but when I learned how important it is for people with traumatic injuries, burn victims, cancer patients, pregnant people and people with leukemia…. I push myself to do an uncomfortable thing for the benefit of others. do it!!!!
I donated blood for the first time! As someone who hates needles and gets squeamish at the sight of blood, it's a big deal for me. I went with a friend and focused on thinking of the people I would be helping (one of the organizers shared that one blood donation can potentially help up to 3 people). PS - If you're in LA and donate at the Magic Castle, they give you a guest pass that works for 4-6 people (depending on when you want to visit).
On letterboxd. Like how do you rate the Virgin Suicides or Killer of the Flower Moon?! So heavy and devastating!
Fully sticking to just saying whether i like a movie or not going forward!
coworker who followed me on letterboxd on my second day working there, who i rarely see, complimented my reviews this week and i got giddy as hell. She had me stuttering and i havent come down from that high, she’s so cool too
