Even if you cannot take time off from work or school or go on vacation somewhere, I like to take time to do absolutely nothing. Even things I do for fun like watch movies or read books, I have reading goals or a watchlist or movie challenge so it takes away the enjoyment. When I do absolutely nothing like take a nap or spend the day in bed, it really clears my mind.

I catch up on my favorite TV shows, watch movies Iāve been meaning to watch, call my friends I havenāt spoken to in a minute, etc. Itās easy to push off the more frivolous things that still bring us joy and sick days are a great excuse to be āunproductive,ā lay back, and chill out. Eat (soup), drink (tea), and be merry. Raising the spirits heals the body.

Sometimes I get in bed, Iāve done nothing but breathe, stay in place, and distract myself for the entire day, and I feel a pretty heavy weight thatās only gotten bigger as Iāve gotten older; you know that voice that says, āiāve got to do what this successful person did or i need to finally take that advice or i need to be PRODUCTIVEā. and in fact, I spent the whole day worrying so much about being productive that I didnāt do anything I really wanted to do in the first place. And thatās okay! We are not machines, weāre not broken or repaired, we just are. we are not measured by what we can produce, even though the society we live in wants us to feel that way soooo bad. Fuck that. find the love in the world and everything else will fall into place. be okay with doing nothing
