My personal favorite kind of number and squares puzzle! I never got into Sudoku because I'm an idiot, but I love the rush of solving a puzzle. I find that they're great for more visual thinkers. The general gist is that you fill in squares and you slowly reveal a cute pixellated image. I play Picross on my Switch and 2DS, but they're also referred to as nonograms elsewhere. Rules from puzzle-nonograms.com You have a grid of squares, which must be either filled in black or marked with X. Beside each row of the grid are listed the lengths of the runs of black squares on that row. Above each column are listed the lengths of the runs of black squares in that column. Your aim is to find all black squares.

Invented by Japanese graphics editor Non Ishida in 1987, Nonograms are addictively elegant visual logic puzzles and IMO the perfect bedtime wind-down activity. They’re kind of like a cross between Sudoku and a paint-by-number. I do them every night on my Nintendo Switch via a game called “Pic-a-Pix Deluxe,” but nonograms.org is also a good entry point. Start small and work your way up— you can even print them out or hand-copy them onto grid paper if you want to go really trad.

BEST COAST NO COAST (technically wrong because we have THE LARGEST BODY OF FRESH WATER IN THE WORLD). We're stereotyped as being nice; our signature dishes are all things that make you feel more full than a grain silo at the end of the harvest season; the great lakes are beautiful; supper clubs; 4 seasons superiority; relatively mild natural disasters; endless list of artists, musicians, generally successful and prolific people from the midwest; natural wonders galore (driftless region, boundary waters, apostle islands, etc.); eccentric culture and lifestyle; the list goes on and on. I love being from Wisconsin, and I will never feel bad about it.

Good for getting that weird sticky dust buildup off of your counters and for old sticker residue. That goo is indeed gone

It's my favorite thing to get at dim sum! Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside—it's a perfect vessel for chili oil and hoisin sauce. Wash it down with hot tea after, of course
