Every April Fool’s day when picking me up from school my dad would tell me that the dogs ran away which stopped being believable after like one time but he continued the gag for years in typical dad joke fashion. I just called him and told me my dog ran away and it genuinely got him 😜
This has strengthened our relationship so much and his lore is always insane. Dads always be doing the most random shit, but no one ever asks them about it. Since i've been asking my dad more about his day to day he gets so excited to tell me about all of the random things he's trying and learning. It's precious.
Tip: spend the month leading up to it trying to casually work horses into every conversation you have! Even try pretending you accidentally sent him a horse listing, and maybe tell him you got him something your mom really didn’t want you to
My dad teases me about how when I was a little kid, my favorite thing to do when I was on the landline phone with somebody—be it a relative or one of my best friends—was to breathlessly describe the things that were in my bedroom so that they could have a mental picture of everything I loved and chose to surround myself with, and where I sat at that moment in time. Perfectly Imperfect reminds me of that so thanks for always listening and for sharing with me too 💌
