Just throwing it out there. See also: electricity (light switches don't work in dreams either) and — since we're talking about phones — telecommunication. It's fun/instructive to summon a phone and try to use it in a lucid dream though

your phone is a super computer, using it to watch and scroll is repeating the past in a small minded way, like projecting a newspaper onto a roll of toilet paper - stop pulling on the roll to see the next square. get off the toilet. read a book and instead use the phone to manipulate basic molecular shapes. it’s a mobile test tube. play with light. do some burnings. if you are especially curious about yourself start screen recording everything, play it back 4x speed. edit that! It’s all *light* baby!! get acquainted with the unconscious + make sure you keep doing your laundry

I eat 3 hours before i sleep and with this meal i'll have a pint of water. Then i get in bed and either watch a film or listen to a record. Lately it's been a record. Then i sit and read for 2 hours with minimal phone interaction or any distractions at all actually. Just before bed i'll piss/brush teeth/wash face and then i get into bed. I listen to the 1984 audiobook on spotify to send me asleep. Been in this routine for 2 weeks and i have been lucidly dreaming for a week straight at this point. No phone and naturally tiring the brain/eyes is a magic thing for your sleep quality

because scrolling pi.fyi in bed is great but not being connected to the internet is wildly freeing and close-to-end is a complete power move

Finally saw this for the first time (on 35mm thxx Prince Charles Cinema) and wow. Jonathan Glazer and co-writer Jean-Claude Carrière spending all of pre-production re-writing the script without informing the studio… DP Harris Savides pushing the boundaries of underexposed film and getting the craziest deepest browns and purples out of Kodak stock… Alexandre Desplat starting with what seems like a very polite classical score and then gradually bringing in heavy synth bass… and of course Nicole Kidman throwing herself headlong into an insane role (and apparently bullying the producers for more $$$ when they finished under budget)

Because of the extensive tradition of pirate radio in the UK (from Radio Caroline on down), London probably has the most insane landscape of 24/7 internet radio in the world. I've tried to rank these in terms of approximate popularity ranging from NTS (as mentioned) on down to purely DIY weekend-only amateur collectives like LWSTD. If you don't know the stations in your city, just have a quick google and do some Instagram "Following" list exploration and it should be pretty easy to find more (e.g. in Amsterdam check out Echobox, Radio Tempo Não Pára, RRFM, etc...) - NTS (Dalston) https://www.nts.live/ - Rinse FM (Hoxton) https://rinse.fm/ - Worldwide FM (Islington) https://worldwidefm.net/ (currently mostly on ice but great archive) - Balaami (Peckham) https://www.balamii.com/ - Soho Radio https://sohoradiolondon.com/ - Reprezent Radio (Brixton) https://www.reprezentradio.org.uk/ - Netil Radio (Hackney) https://www.netilradio.com/ - Subtle Radio (Hackney) https://www.subtleradio.com/ - Voices Radio (Kings Cross) https://www.voicesradio.co.uk/ - Aaja (Deptford) https://aajamusic.com/radio/ - Do You!! Radio (Hackney) https://doyou.world/ - LWSTD https://www.lovewillsavetheday.fm/
