yet i feel like i need it for work.. but also do i rlly wanna interact w ppl who see me as an Instagram-first character. my most used atp r this site, tumblr, and i love an are.na rabbit hole too. i do enjoy tiktok bc i have trained my algorithm to mostly show me fashion stuff. i've set app limits but the one more minute button keeps defeating me. I will prevail

Bring back logging on and off! I am in the same boat. As much as I hate it, I can't seem to get off of it. I am on Instagram ALL OF THE TIME. I will try to start just using the web version, then maybe I'll be able to eventually delete the app. Baby steps.

have you tried using the web versions of some of these apps? I uninstalled some from my phone, so I don't feel the addiction when I'm out with friends, I only distract myself while I'm at work.

danhakimi deleting from phone and checking on desktop has been soooo key. just check for messages and music/shows.

I've been trying to leave instagram for years. Rather for me it's a question of addiction. Especially because of my obsession with reels. But instagram remains for me the easiest way and to expand my creative reach. I've started photography as of last year and have gotten stupidly invested. And I'd never be where I am now without specifically using instagram. What ive done to limit instagram is simply to have a friend put a parental control on my phone with a limit of 45min a day. Works pretty well.

It's Basically my online life

Aside from pi.fyi, I was only ever on instagram so it went pretty easy for me. I'm lucky that tiktok's UX is revolting to me. I framed it like this: Scrolling my phone is not a hobby, so why shouldn't I just engage more with my hobbies instead?
