1969 (on steaming as the first part of his American Trilogy collection) Despite the consistent rain and thunder sound effects at the edges of the songs, this thing is sincerely sad. It’s cold morning of the soul type music. With songs like “I Don’t Think Much About Her No More” (ok sure buddy) and lyrics like “yesterdays gone lord, it’s better forgotten/ like the poison red berries to die on the vine”… it makes me smile in a way only some truly despondent music can. Mickey is keeping a close watch on the sky and remains fixated on his solitude, but he’s also whistling a lot, so maybe he’s gonna be ok?

A song for lovers missing their sweetheart. Was recommended to me when I was looking for rainy day music. A friend said this played on the car radio when his father was evacuating New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Brought him to tears and it does the same for me!

Feeling v sad today about climate disasters and the vulnerable populations of people they affect the most. This song is always a goldmine of comforting lyrics 🕯️❤️ “Try to see the light of goodness burning down the track” RIP Jason Molina 🫶🏻

I have a strong memory of a walk I took when I was a particularly moody teenager full of all those super intense feelings that you can access super easily at that age. I was listening to All Things Must Pass and it was pouring rain and I was crying the whole time. Sometimes I can still feel those feelings when I listen to “Isn’t It a Pity”
