Just finished the hole and absolutely loved it and have only had positive experiences with the 100 page or less books I’ve read Anyone who has read the hole I would love to hear your interpretations of it but talking about short books on the whole im endlessly impressed by authors of anything because I truly can not write for the life of me no matter how much I would like to so I just love that there are people who can create such engaging stories and convey everything they want to successfully in only 100 pages I just love it so much (i love longer novels as well and am just as impressed and in awe of people who can write longer stories but something about a short story is just super impressive to me!) It’s also just so nice to buy and own and read a story that feels like you’re just holding a pamphlet or brochure Any short story recs would be greatly appreciated!

Theres something so nice about being able to sit down and finish a book in under 30 minutes. Time that would have otherwise been spent scrolling mindlessly on a random app is instead spent enriching my brain and taking me on a little journey from beginning to end. Sometimes I don’t want to read the same book for a week or two. Sometimes you just want to scratch an itch and be done. I’m not ashamed to include a 17 page book in my total count for the year, and you shouldn’t be either! Anyways, The Ritual was just that, so 10/10, I recommend not only this book if you’re looking for a little sampler of holiday horror, but ANY little novella you can get your hands on.

There’s nothing better than finishing an 800 page novel that has no punctuation and immediately jumping straight into a multivolume epic. Actually it’s horrible. There’s no better way to rasa the tabula than reading a little snack sized story. The best ones (take for instance just about anything from the new collection EVIL FLOWERS by Gunnhild Øyehaug) will stay with you long after you’ve forgotten the name of all the characters in that novel.

underrated. its more than just prose or poetry but not as much of a longform commitment as a novel. sometimes a story only needs 10 or 20 or 30 pages. great for people to practice writing, great to write for the sake of writing, can read one in a car ride, so much freedom in short stories. I resent the sentiment that they’re somehow lesser or lower brow than poetry or novel. specific ones I recommend, at least to start: The Fall of the House of Usher (or anything by Poe, he’s kinda the goat) The Scarlet Ibis The Metamorphosis The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas The Lottery The Most Dangerous Game

Peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, etc. It’s mind blowing that something so nice can be naturally occurring Just beautiful fruits (look at these plums) and just so delicious even when they’re not technically in season I could (and do) eat five peaches a day Also peach cobbler! Haven’t heard of it but need to try plum cobbler I feel like that’d be crazy

I got a humidifier at target cause it’s getting dry and that’s something I would typically overlook but for some reason I remembered the spongebob humidifier my parents used to always put in my room and I thought about how many things just for like comfort or health that I stopped doing that were just like everyday things my parents did when I was a kid

for the most part every movie I see, book I read, meal I eat, album I listen to, place I travel to is the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced (Maybe it just means I’m easy to please but I don’t mind because it leads to many enjoyable experiences!)
