when I got Spotify in high school I was really into the Velvet Underground and I loved this song in particular. It is promptly followed by the entirety of Bowie's "Blackstar", the Nirvana version of "The Man Who Sold The World", and a Weather Report song... says a lot about me in January 2016!

just heard this on SiriusXMU in my mom's car. sent a signal down my spine and all throughout my nervous system. gorgeous gorgeous song. apparently it's a live version recorded exclusively for SiriusXMU. your only two options to hear it are to stream it from the SiriusXM app/website or sit in a car with SiriusXM radio and wait, and boy oh boy is it worth the wait. need to figure out my mom's SiriusXM info immediately so i can hear this on my phone. i guess i'll just attach a link to the original but boy oh boy is this a rec for the cover.

a couple weeks ago driving from Vermont back to NYC I was listening to an episode of Theme Time Radio, Bob Dylan’s 2000s radio show, and he introduced a song by Lou Reed I’d never heard before. So it’s like Bob himself showed me this. It’s a cover of an old American standard but Lou of course makes it his own. hbd to the greatest

If there's a live version of a song I love I'm gonna listen to it. If there's a demo version of a song I love I'm gonna listen to it. If there's a remix of a song I love I'm gonna listen to it. If there's a cover of a song I love I'm gonna listen to it. Keeps the song fresh, adds variety and gets you more connected with the tune than one recording could. You could find a new favorite version of a song or better yet find that the selection of alternate recordings reflects a larger range of moods. The world wide web is your oyster. In mind right now particularly are Lou Reed's '84 Live in Italy version of Satellite of Love, Helvetia's cover of the Misfits song Hybrid Moments (Helvetia's cover and demo game in general is crazy), MJ Lenderman's take on Knocking on Heaven's Door (Knockin')—MJ also has a stellar live album—any and all versions of the Weight by the Band but specifically Nina Simone's, the Denzel Curry remix of BALD! by JPEGMAFIA. And any live Dinosaur Jr. Happy listening 🍻

😃
so much to talk about, the sunglasses, the scarf, the fresh baguette and coffee, the always lovely cafe setting. I think this is the most swag ever captured on camera I aspire to be at this level
