here are some lgbtq+ films i have seen recently, some i liked more, some i liked less but most of them left a lasting impression on me which i think is great. here they are: - kokomo city (usa, 2023) (if you were to watch only one of these please watch this one)

i actually don’t think i have a singular favorite queer movie but i’m recing pride since it is lesser-known (despite having a great cast!). it’s based on a true story and highlights a beautiful intersection of the labor and gay lib movements! when i went to london i visited the bookstore from the film (gay’s the word).
bound is also a favorite of mine! :) i recently watched saving face and loved that one too. the incredibly true adventures of two girls in love (which i have rec’d before) is also a favorite. bodies bodies bodies, bottoms, jennifer’s body, and but i’m a cheerleader as well!
recent watch omg omg i absolutely adored and enjoyed this. such a warm and intimate film. this is definitely going into my top 4 favs!! i love you lesbians
seeing a movie on a huge screen (as most directors intended it to be seen) and just indulging in approximately 2 hours of pure uninterrupted escapism without anyone to worry about (plus supporting your local cinema at the same time). works best with "slow" films where the scenes linger. total bliss.
i don't know who needs to hear this (me. i need to hear this. i wrote this rec for me.) but late-stage capitalism influencers reaaaally want you to believe you need to have this whole grand 15-step skincare routine with all the little gadgets and gizmos or you are doing something fundamentally wrong. hear me out here - you are fine. the only thing they are contributing to is the ever-growing need to consume and the systematic destruction of your skin barrier. as long as you wash your face regularly and put on some sunscreen every morning, the rest is mostly just for the vibes.
