I’ve been seeing the art formula of some type of western design + some type of quote blowing up online for months. I follow 5-6 artists that have made their living off of perfecting this. And every time I saw it I thought ā€œOh I could do that.ā€ But I never would because that’s not my usual style and I wouldn’t ever want to include that in my portfolio. You know, my super specific & super analyzed portfolio. And it just got me a few days ago — Why not just try it? And see what it’s like? What if I do it and not include it in my portfolio at all! What if it’s…just…for…fun??? — I stopped taking myself super seriously. So go and try the thing out. Maybe it’s for you, maybe not. But it might be a lot of fun. I know I loved making my little cowboy below.

This isn’t me at all — not my typical design, not what I’m intro, and def not something I’d do just for fun. But…to reach a bigger audience of brands…it’s time to get a little whimsical. And he’s cute as hell. Who knew becoming a more well rounded illustrator could be so…adorable?

this is an old one from 2021 when still here still life drawing challenges on instagram were SUPERRR popular. i haven't posted any new illustration work since then bc of burnout wooo!!!! it's true what they say about being a creative in advertising btw it will suck the life out of you but i digress... i'm slowly working up the courage to getting my work out there again and opening myself for commissions :D

not sure what your style or creative vibe is BUT i love the idea of little conceptual worlds. like ā€œshootingā€ stars (shooting stars down from sky w gun. maybe some evil capitalist regime?) and then you have stars as a starting point. concepts like melting down stars (like metal?) star face (character/mask for anti star shooting?) or somehow putting stars indoors (like a baby mobile made of real stars?) the possibilities are endless. find a little concept, make a world, make pieces based off of that šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

florinegrassenhopper riotgrrrl brendanooooo slowdazzle buck_mcgraw and indianjones — we did it. Not only did we successfully meet for drinks, but we also schemed the hostile takeover of this app from tyler tonight. In all seriousness — weird that an app I downloaded in April would make genuinely want to drive back into Brooklyn during end of day traffic for a happy hour. Great app filled with great people.

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup). Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love. I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed. It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
