try to sit close to someone you want to talk to and then start the conversation by saying ‘is this x class?‘ or ‘Are you also here for x class?’. the convo usually follows on from there. Remember everyone else is probably as nervous as you! 🩷

Best way to discover the early sparks of friendships, in my experience, is to be genuinely curious about those you happen across. Ask them questions. Find out and ask about their "true self" list of conversation topics. As you probe and listen and make space for them to talk with a long runway, they'll likely do the same. If not, no worries, there's always someone else.

The key to all closed doors, in friendship, love, and career stuff. it’s also actually fun to just meet someone new and ask them about themselves…. I’ve found that people are much more open about themselves in a coffee talk setting than in other places - learn about what people care about!!!!

i think everybody hates small talk, but everybody is also very different from each other, I guess it’s a matter of being understanding with the person or people you’re talking to at the moment. But I do think that personal questions and talking about real life experiences is what gets conversations going, it’s also what makes you remember people and want to reconnect with them. when talking to somebody new there’s nothing better to a first impression than someone who engages and listens. We get what we give so might as well give as much as we can.
