I'm also pretty new, but from what i've gathered it's basically an ad-free, algorithm-free way to connect with other people. Sharing things you like, asking questions and recommending things. A way to share a more real version of yourself than you are able to do on other platforms.
Just people sharing snippets of their life, recommending things they genuinely like, talk about things they dislike... it feels authentic compared to other platforms where everything feels like a show
i just made my pi.fyi account yesterday and i’m so warmed by how eager everyone is to chat with strangers to engage in sharing their little positive moments with one another. i finally get why everyone yearns for the myspace era
Recently I have been trying to find out why PI.FYI has recently been a more lackluster experience for me and (by no fault of the app ! I still love it) I think it’s because I post things as if everyone here were my friends. And while the community here is wonderful, it feels more like I’m sharing to strangers (which is like “yeah duh”). I’m missing that personal touch. I want to appreciate the app for what it is as it feels like a very special place on the internet but, I think feeling connected will take more time.
Just watched a 3 hour video-essay about greek mythology, and goddamn am i jealous. Why can't a king fall in love with my girlfriend, then steal her. After which i go on a 17 year long voyage to find her, during which i anger between 17 to 42 different gods, who then turn me into a sheep with breadsticks for legs that can only communicate with tongue-clicking. And in order to undo the curse i have to travel to the underworld and preform the most bedazzling dance in front of Hades, making him burst into tears of joy. Anyways, pretty interesting stuff that mythlogy. Can recommend.
