dystopian/post-apoc easy read! I don’t read a ton of books in that genre, but found it really compelling or Bliss Montage, also by Ling Ma, is a great short stories collection. sometimes short stories are the best way for me to break out of a reading slump 🤌

Bliss Montage - Ling Ma

Absolutely loved this uncanny collection of short stories. Ling Ma creates depth and discomfort in her characters so well, and creeps up on you with narratives that’ll leave you thinking. Severance (her novel) was also one of my favorite reads last year.

BOOKS WITH SHORT STORIES

when im in a reading slump i go for books that are a collection of short stories. the shorter length makes it easier to finish a story in one sitting so you can have that sense of accomplishment and also variety without a big commitment. some of my faves are: prayer for the living - ben okri ‼️‼️ life ceremony - sayaka murata her body & other parties - carmen maria machado the dangers of smoking in bed - mariana enriquez
