… it hurts really bad and is not a good representation of what getting tattooed feels like most of the time. Apart from the pain level, the ribs do provide a more discreet placement, which I think is ideal, especially if you’re young. I was 19 and realizing that I regretted not seeing my tattoo encouraged me to pick more visible placements afterwards. My advice would be to do what feels right for you and the design you have in mind. To me, tattoos are a form of art curating. It’s fun to reflect on the past through them. Have fun! xoxo

I have 6, all fine linework except for a trad style convo heart on my upper thigh. I love hand poke from professionals - it’s super intimate and a lot of the artists I followed when I lived in Austin almost exclusively did hand poke work instead of machine. they are not blown out and have not faded :-) I think long and hard about placement, but I just get stuff I want from artists I love. Not everything has to have A Deep Meaning. My faves are a pear on my right forearm (stranger: why the pear? me: I love pears), “form” on the back of my left arm, and the lightbulb eye from Picasso’s Guernica above the inside of my right elbow. tattoos are sexy as hell, and I plan to keep collecting them for the rest of my life. The pain to me usually feels like someone scratching a sunburn - worst was my finger since it’s close to bone and the convo heart since the artist went IN! it can be really bad or very tolerable, but I have genuinely enjoyed talking to all of the artists who have given me their work and just focus on the overall experience ✨ the more shading/color, the more it’s gonna hurt and the more intensive the healing process

i have three, the first one (right rib) was meticulously planned and hurt like hell. i thought just one was it for me but then, a few months later, i sort of happened to be at a place where there was also a tattoo machine just laying around so (without any prior experience) i just tatted myself and i had a blast. its on my left thigh, about 4cm and looks like shit (see pic) but also now i have a semi-good story to tell when people ask me abt it. the third one is also on my left thigh just sort of tying the whole shitty trashy aesthetic together and i will totally get another one. for anyone reading this thinking abt getting one, my point is: have fun with it, don't overthink it and just do it!

i think i have 9 at this point? honestly babe you only get one body during your time on earth so you might as well do what you want with it. have a favorite band? get a symbol of them put on your body forever. a favorite painting? steal that shit and put it on your arm. none of mine have very deep meaning but that’s okay because i like them. i just think they look neat! that’s how you decide, just take up all the space on your skin with shit you think looks cool. the pain depends on the part of the body; i think my most painful was my thigh and my least painful was probably the back of my calf. also color tats hurt a bit more than black so be conscious of that. and i would definitely get another. they’re absolutely addicting.

This specific shade of yellow-green (or green-yellow depending on who you ask). It’s so bright it might as well blind me. My mom and I used to argue all the time about whether a car was yellow or green. To her (and most people), it was yellow but to me it was always green. Chartreuse is both and neither at the same time. My mom’s favorite color was yellow and mine used to be green. After she died, Chartreuse became my favorite color. It is a little bit of both, a little of bit of her and I together. Some days, it’s the only thing that makes me feel alive.

Insert that one Marx quote… What can I say, spending money I barely have on things that make me feel alive will always be worth it to me! Been very into paintings recently & even purchased my very first one. Life changing! The artist is Janis Fridmanis :) I don’t care that I’m bad at managing money! I want to be surrounded by beauty and art and I want to live a meaningful life.

Try things you want to try. Make friends with people who make you feel good about life. Life is limitless and so are you. Who you were yesterday and who you’ll be tomorrow are different but they’re all you! Nothing is ever set in stone so don’t worry about finding exactly who you are right away. No one truly ever does you know! Put yourself out there and try things you want to try. It sounds like a lot of empty words but don’t be too harsh on yourself in the process, you’re not just one thing or the other and you will constantly change. I wish you all the best xoxo
