i'm in the process of moving too, and lemme tell ya, you will save SO much space in a luggage/box if you just vacuum seal your clothes!

otherwise I've also left clothes on their hangers and tied a big sheet around them so they stay clean and together so you can just rehang them when you arrive. + never buy cardboard boxes, always look on Facebook ( maybe craigslist is the equivalent if you are in the us) people give away all their moving boxes for free after a move because they are hard to dispose of.
🏘
Start with the stuff you use the least and group everything together by room. I looked into vacuum sealed bags last time I moved which is kind of cool but honestly? When I move I use trash bags for anything soft or lightweight and not breakable I just toss it all in there. It’s really convenient so you could use that to augment the IKEA bags. I wrap breakables in towels and socks. You can get boxes from liquor stores that are nice and sturdy and remember it’s better to have them be too light and underfilled than heavy and overfilled. ALSO if you go on like Taskrabbit or something you can find movers that are a lot cheaper than traditional movers so if that’s an option for you it’s something to consider because it probably makes things a lot easier.

And the day before the move pack a move day duffel bag or suitcase with outfits, your toiletries, medications, phone chargers, and anything else you need to have immediately and easily accessible for the first few days. I usually do kitchen stuff before almost anything else. I would also say for heavy things smaller boxes are better and make sure to sort and label every box by room. OH and I like to use pairs of socks (one sock on the bottom end and one on the top) to pad small fragile things like perfume bottles

i have a couple to suggest: dinkum - think stardew valley + animal crossing + elements of minecraft based in australia; it's literally my favourite game of all time and can spend HOURS on it making my little town it's so fun. and it can be multiplayer!! unpacking - okay this one is a shorter game but you basically unpack items from boxes into a home. kinda like a puzzle and organizing game, but it's super relaxing. you also get clues about whose life you're unpacking. mini metro - if you like train lines/subways in cities, then this is a nice puzzle game. you basically design a subway system by drawing lines between stations to keep your trains running. there are new stations that open and you must include them into your subway system haha to the moon - story driven game but, could make you extremely emotional rocket league - soccer with cars, i have sunk many hours in this, but i like playing this game with friends!! just gonna put stardew valley in here too because it is also one of my fave games, but i reckon you've heard of it already!

i carry one everywhere i go, so if i have an idea, an observation, or just want to spontaneously journal out in the wildy, i write it down in the book! i enjoy writing with a nice pen vs typing on my phone and it's kind of therapeutic? it makes you feel more present with your thoughts since there are no notifications to distract you! also you get to practice your hand writing! the pocket notebooks i use are field notes (grid) and moleskine (blank) i also love writing with muji pens hehe
