Hades: it’s described as a rogue-like rpg where you’re the son of Hades, Zagreus, and you’re trying to escape the underworld to reach your mom, Persephone. as someone who doesn’t play many games, i love that dying in the game is actually needed to progress and not a punishment Tangle Tower: it’s just a point and click murder mystery game but i love the art style and voice acting. all of the characters are so unique and fun to interact with So I play it every once in a while and still doesn’t get old. both are available as phone games, too, and also let you take your time and enjoy the atmosphere :)

Immortality-more horror/mystery. you scrub through footage of a movie star and things get weird, fast. really unique storytelling, great acting. don't want to say anything else to avoid any spoilers! Return of the Obra Dinn-detective/puzzle. you move through time and memories on the once lost merchant ship Obra Dinn and uncover a wild and twisted story. super detailed, extremely addictive in my experience, really unique graphics. it's like an interactive comic book with the most satisfying reveals and discoveries. Honorable mentions: Strange Horticulture, Gris (all time fav platformer), Void Crew (more of a strategy game than a story game but fun to play with friends)

THE COSMIC WHEEL SISTERHOOD!!!! - I’ve rec’d it before cause it’s so good, if you love a good story this is defo for you. Its so so gorgeous (pic below is from it). You’re a witch who’s been in exile for centuries, who summons a demon to help. Choose your own adventure style story game with elements of collage (you make your own oracle cards). Night in the woods - a weird lil walking sim story game that feels like a graphic novel. Existential and dark and mysterious. Wylde Flowers - a cosy witchy farming and story game. i find pure farming/management sims a bit boring but this has a linear storyline which kept me entertained. Spiritfarer - such a moving game unlike anything else I’ve played since. You play as a psychopomp ferrying souls into the afterlife and carrying out their final wishes. Also if you wanted to get into more RPGs, I just finished Sea of Stars. It’s an adventure RPG with gorgeous pixel art. It’s made to have the nostalgia of old 90s RPGs, but you’d definitely be able to appreciate it without having played them. It has combat, but it’s turn based which might be easier for someone who isn’t as good at combat, and there’s relics you pick up that you can activate to make the fighting easier. Turn based combat in general is probably the way to go if you wanna move into fighting games!

Cute, souls-like, 3D, isometric, action adventure game. One of my all time favourite games, and I can't believe that it was developed by just two guys in Manchester. They were inspired by dark souls and top-down Zelda games, combined with Studio Ghibli animation. I've attached a game play trailer. I don't really hear people talk about it much and I really think more people should play it! Its game-play feels really slick and satisfying and not clumky like some isometric sword combat games can be. It's challenging, but not sadistic (I tried to play Tunic which is similar and just gave up cause it was so punishing). I have already played it twice and I'm itching for another run through.

She's a textbook baddie in my book tbh. Her paintings are powerful, dramatic, emotional, and fierce. A lot of them center around powerful biblical women in representations that weren't common for the time (one of the most popular is Susanna and the Elders). I adore her representation of angry women <3 Self-Portrait as the Allegory of Painting (1638-1639)

thinking about Frankenstein as a story of birth, motherhood, & loss. really makes me rethink a lot that happens in the story & what Shelley was going through at the time. here's a link to a really cool article that discusses a lot of really neat reinterpretations of the novel.

college radios are always fun to listen to, but I’m mostly familiar with WOZQ 91.9 FM the Smith College radio.
