as someone thoroughly worn out by "multiverses" being crammed into all media, it's refreshing to learn about the theoretical ideas that pop sci-fi has been bastardizing

absolutely crazy sci-fi, retro-futuristic masterpiece. a bit of a slow start but once it gets going you cannot put this book down. antarctic expedition, ancient structures found deep, deep under the ice. international scientists investigate find and open a prehistoric atomic shelter to reveal two humans frozen in blocks of absolute zero ice. once defrosted, and using the newfound "universal energy" technology, the scientists and the world begin to learn what political events led up to the destruction of a much earlier and more sophisticated humanity. deep echoes to the cold war era time this book was written in, as well as today's climate. the book is dreamy, fascinating, dystopian, i can truly escape into it which is all i ask

By Izumi Suzuki~ Short science fiction stories exploring questions of gender, the future, and the impermanence of life and our planet. Fatalistic in a way that makes u examine your own ways of being. Give it a read!
“Like most people these days, I don’t overthink things. I’ll go along with whatever. No firm beliefs, no hang-ups. Just a lack of self-confidence tangled up in fatalistic resignation. Whatever the situation, nothing ever reaches me on an emotional level. Nothing’s important. Because I won’t let it be. I operate on mood alone. No regrets, no looking back. Before me, the world stretches out flat, smooth and featureless. Gentle and inconstant.”
