Trees are able to communicate with each other using a fungi called mycorrhizal which networks the tree together . They can send nutrients, pesticides and even poison to one other.
You will be surprised at how many of them are edible. Kahikatea trees (one of my fav trees) produce edible berries. They are some of the tallest trees in the forest, and yet maōri would climb them to hights over 200 ft were they battled with birds to collect these berries!!! It’s also good to learn invasive plants, but this can be a deep rabbit hole that depresses you - my friend is currently battling with an invasive plant known as moth weed and it haunts her every waking minute
