I am a huge fan of the boys but this post did make me chuckle and is worth the read if you're a fan (or even more if you’re a hater)

I find that almost every gay woman I know (including myself) doesn’t like boygenius. Their music (the same song in 15 different versions) is nearly unbearable to me… maybe we’re haters but maybe we’re also speaking the truth ❤️

it feels a little controversial to share this rec on a platform that rides heavy on positivity and kindness (which I’m in favor of) but let’s be honest being a hater is deeply satisfying and when harnessed accordingly can even be productive.  being a hater — when channeled accordingly — can position you to use whatever gift or talent the universe (or god, or whatever higher power you believe in) placed upon you, and make a tangible thing out of it.  if Kendrick Lamar has taught us anything it‘s that being a hater can get you so far you’ll end up winning Grammys for it. Sometimes, pettiness IS the way forward. stay consistent with it. Ten toes down.  being a hater will have your enemies go into hiding while folk in Portugal or South Africa (which I’ve witnessed in real time) are blasting and yelling in unison ‘… A MINOR’  if there’s one thing I’ve learned from living in America is I need to be a hater to survive. Especially after this past month. We got a long 4 years ahead of us and we’re gonna need this idea of being a hater as part of our skillset to fuel us into taking action and shaking shit up. At the end of the day. Being a hater I believe is just as imperative as it is to being a lover. I think the real challenge is finding balance. ps. I just found out that ‘Not Like Us’ has exactly 101 beats per minute which makes the right tempo for hands only CPR. So there you have it. Being a hater can also save a life.

These sneaker loafers make me so mad that I had to go write about them (and the people who wear them) to feel better about myself.

florinegrassenhopper riotgrrrl brendanooooo slowdazzle buck_mcgraw and indianjones — we did it. Not only did we successfully meet for drinks, but we also schemed the hostile takeover of this app from tyler tonight. In all seriousness — weird that an app I downloaded in April would make genuinely want to drive back into Brooklyn during end of day traffic for a happy hour. Great app filled with great people.

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup). Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love. I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed. It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
