I’ve read the book, I’ve seen the movie. I know how it ends. But guess what, it’s still a good show. The TV format catered really well to the original conceit of the book, with each episode covering a year, and was able to really explore the depth of Dex and Em’s relationship.
That being said, my age is really showing, cause I’ve become less forgiving than before of Dex’s red flag ways. I actually felt bad for the people they were in a relationship with at any given time, cause these two have been living the boy/girl bestfriend trope for decades.

Ok so to start I saw Benedict cumberpatch was in it and not like excited about that but he did good so ig I can’t say anything LOL now for the actual review: This was NOT what I expected, but like in a great way. I thought this was going to be one following detectives and police and idk just like other crime shows but it was much cooler.
It follows Vincent, the creator/a pupeteer in a children’s show who is also a shitty dude and shitty father, makes everyone miserable, but it seems like his son still looks up to him. But his home life isn’t great, his parents have loud arguments where things get thrown, his dad has a bad attitude towards him, etc. One day Vincint is asked to walk his 9 year old son to school, but he doesn’t and he goes missing. In a New York prior to cell phones, the story takes place in a time where we still see cases of racism, homophobia, corruption, and a large homeless population rumored to be hiding underground. Regretting his choices but still not getting along with his wife, the perspective changes between multiple characters and their search to find Edgar. Full of this regret for how he treated his son the night before and day of, we watch this father spiral, go back to his bad habits, and hallucinate the character his son has created.
There’s a lot more to it, but I’m worried my phones ab out to crash and don’t want to spoil bht it was really interesting and good, I would recommend it!

Really truly baffled/annoyed at the lack of attention this show is getting.. everyone should be talking about this. Could be triggering to some, so read up and tread lightly if you think itd hit too hard. But I really was blown away at the bravery of Richard Gadd (who wrote this based on his own experience/life and played himself/a character of himself…!!) and was crying sooo bad at the last two episodes … so utterly devastating, confusing, a shock to the system, but to me that definitely falls into the category of good TV. Especially these days where I feel Netflix shows are .. what you’d expect Netflix shows to be. So fucking good 😭😭😭😭😭

I technically went into this show blind as I had not really looked too much into it, and now after watching it I HAVE to say that it was not at all what I expected. I started the first few episodes and then proceeded to tell some coworkers that it was "making me feel giddy", due to all the gooey romance. BUT GOSH!!! did it take a turn.. by the end of the show I was uncontrollably sobbing.. But I will say, definitely worth a watch!

My Lady Jane is a fun, entertaining, binge-able fantasy retelling of the life of Lady Jane Grey, queen for all of nine days. Sometimes, that’s all you really need.

Great plot, great acting, great production design. I would be very surprised if this doesn’t get its flowers come awards season.
Crimson Sky and the final conversation between Toranaga and Yabushige are some of the things that I’ll be thinking about for quite some time. I’m not very familiar with Anna Sawai’s work, but I loved her acting here. The tea ceremony with her husband is another one of her great moments that’s sort of seared in my memory.

Pretty fun and got the vibe of the games fairly well. I ended up finishing all episodes in one sitting.
The Westworld folks produced this, so while it’s no Westworld, you can feel Jonathan Nolan/Lisa Joy‘s influence all throughout.
Not perfect but still one of the better video game adaptations (The Last of Us episode 3 is pretty hard to top). Plus the setting is a goldmine to tell more, better stories in future seasons or spin-offs.
