These are those unplanned, worn-in trails that come into existence from consistent use over time. I like how they represent a record of the way humans and animals interact with their environment, with some being wide and well travelled while others are overgrown and don’t see that much use; each one has a story! I think they’re a cool example of the ways in which we unintentionally shape nature while it shapes us right back. So take that desire path and push back against infrastructure imposed upon you (if you want).
I also just think Desire Path is a beautiful combination of words.

"Desire Lines," like the amazing song by Deerhunter: https://open.spotify.com/track/34OYZJDVLJC0HS401190FN?si=27a508eaf4aa4727 I see in that song a coming of age metaphor -- suggesting that “Desire Lines” may be the constricted paths that result from maturity instead of the entire field in which childhood (very pleasantly) exists.

My mom told me about this concept but always called them “desire ways”. path is good too tho!

I’ve never heard them called this, but it made me think of Desire Lines by deerhunter (no idea what it’s about exactly) but relistening now and maybe this is what the title references. & now i love it more

Define the narrative

Lately, I've been into 'drive', before it was 'desire'.. through wanting. I went from hating every moment of doing dishes and now it's sublime. I actually look forward to it. It came from desire and building the habit. The tension disappeared. Do you desire change? The larger the mission the more drive is needed to accomplish the desire.

motifs and themes + myths and the like

look at all the art and cultural detritus you love, or whatever most compells you (even if you dislike it, maybe especially so!). see if there are poses, objects, creatures, ideas etc that keep popping up. these are your prompts!! 𓅽 to use my own expierence as an example: i kept finding human-bird hybrids everywhere in the stuff i return to. angels, harpies, Sirin & Alkonost, etc clearly something about the union of beast/bird with (often femme) humanity to create something either deceptive and dangerous or divine and distant made me excited! so that became my prompt. it made me start having questions i could only answer through making art: how many ways can i depict a human-bird hybrid? what details transform it from an angel into a siren, or perhaps into something all together new and different? etc this leads me to: 𓅽 explore mythology, fairy and folktales! i personally don't buy into the jungian shit AT ALL (and don't even get me started on joseph campell, booo) but! there's a reason these stories and their imagery have stuck around! they're endlessly fascinating and adaptable, and they make for a great first step to take in creating something that speaks to you and so many others across time and space
