Just finished the advance copy in 4 hours. Couldn't put it down. Pre-order it babes. "As Chile emerged from Pinochet's brutal dictatorship into a flawed democracy, Lemebel shone a light on lives and events many wanted to supress: the last days of sex workers dying from Aids, the glitzy literary salon held above a torture chamber, and the queer sex and community found in Santiago's clubs, parks and back alleys." Love letters to travestis, of cruising and political uprising. I keep remembering vivid images from it, in 'night of furs' a cast of locas create a mountain of candlelit chicken bones that would go on to foretell the oncoming coup and dictatorship. In another story, a Loca loses her new brand shoes after hooking up (during curfew) with a circus traveller, and has to run home in oversized clown shoes. When beloved Loba Lamar passes from AIDs, her friends can't let her die with her mouth open. "She can't go like that, the poor thing, said the locas, already calmer. She can't get stuck with her trap open like a hungry frog, herself so divine, so careful with every gesture and pose. She should always be remembered as a diva. Something must be done. Quick, close her mouth with a scarf before it stiffens." I will be rereading this collection over and over. It is absurdist, high camp, an absolute ode to queer memory, to remember with rage.

today i spent an hour on chat gpt trying to find the name of this book that i thought iā€˜d lost or lent out by accident. Ai couldn’t figure it out but later when my friend came over she pulled it immediately off the shelf. i blame my hangover…. cool kinda smutty novel exploring power dynamics between folks in an open relationship… exploring queer sexuality. good for bisexuals feeling at odds with their identity. idk honestly i need to reread but i know i loved it and was really upset at the idea of having lost it or never being able to find it again

I have these little beeswax candles that have a lil holder They burn for exactly 20 minutes. I set one up and a lamp, and do a small crafting task with a hot drink.

Ive been on T for awhile now and get read as a cis man most of the time. I generally wear long shorts, hoodies, open shirts with tees etc. When out with mates at safer spaces, I wear small crop tops with baggy pants, mesh shirts, building up to body suits I want to be more femme presenting and have fun with my outfits generally, but I've moved to a small town from London and I don't feel safe or comfortable doing that in public here.

My window is open and I can smell the sea on the breeze coming through. Every now and then, there is a small flash of white bellies in the night sky as gulls fly overhead. I'm not super close to the sea, but high enough to see a small moon dipped crescent of it and the little flickering light of a cruise ship. Cliffs reach out to the left, peppered with the glow of other people still awake at 2AM.
