I did this last night and it was a hilarious voyeuristic joy. A great tale of intimacy, being a perv and a simp, and shames. High levels of erotic creativity and ridiculousness coming Live from 1909 Ireland. “Time fly on, fly on quickly! I want to go back to my love, my life, my star, my little strange-eyed Ireland!”

“…from time to time he shews his kind-heartedness by loading me with books - so that I am still indebted to him for all the pleasure or amusement I have—“ — Charlotte Brontë about M. Heger, Charlotte’s professor/mentor and first love—apparently unrequited, though the dude did many questionable things toward Charlotte considering he was married (this is not the best example for this rec but I’m currently reading Charlotte’s letters and going down the rabbit hole again of her tortured love for this man so you’re all going to hear about it ok!! M. Heger is thought to be the template for several of Charlotte’s romantic leading men in her novels)
