Staying at the Roxy in NY (formerly the Tribeca Grand) is akin to being on an elegant cruise in Manhattan. Itβs my home away from home in the city. Everything is there: from live jazz in the massive atrium lobby with the glass elevator zipping up and down and the divine food and drinks (I recommend the lobster roll and a mescal cocktail) in recessed leather booths shaped like teacups, to the gorgeous red velvet theater below - which offers the best films on screen in Manhattan - curated by the brilliant Illyse Singer. After attending a killer film and fascinating Q&A, retreat to the Django, the speakeasy next door, which stays open til 4AM and is often where the hottest underground music acts playβ¦ What else could you ask for?Β

Made a WhatsApp group with all my film friends in it and have been using it coordinate going to screenings. It's so much fun! There's loads of little independent screenings happening where I live and some very good independent cinemas, but even if all you have is a TV you should start a film club too. This evening I'm off to an old pub that's been converted into an events space to watch The Garden by Derek Jarman π

a dutch painter that i've only recently found but so so good. The way he plays with colors and texture is divine. It also helps that its chaotic as fuck and i LOVE that. He's born in 1881 and paints a lot of portraits of women (but then in a funky style) and also landscape, flowers & party's. Away with all the depressing still lifes, or colourfull blocks of paint gimmme crazy chaotic scenes that make my heart rush and my eyes grow big aaaany day of the week

Miss Fisher's murder mysteries is honestly one of the coziest, funniest and just all around most enjoyable show I have ever watched. Its about a private detective (miss fisher) who is a 'modern woman' in the 1920s in melbourne and is the strongest character i've seen portrayed. Sweet, smart and sharp she's got it all. She's accompanied by her two communist cabby drivers, her butler named mr butler who is a master in multiple fight maneuvers, her very sweet, very catholic companion Dot, a stealing orphan she takes in to become her ward, her best friend who is a lesbian doctor and ofcourse Jack Robinson the dashing detective she fights crimes with.
I got into it by watching it with my Oma while we both would be crocheting on the couch :)
