I’ll set the scene:
Boy who loves to read and overstimulated girl go on a date to girls favourite gallery for her favourite biannual exhibition. It’s pouring rain in a busy city, the gallery is a haven. Boy and girl walk around the gallery, standing closely and telling stories about what they see. Boy asks girl if she wants to know more about the art, boy says “i’ll read it to you.” Girl holds boys pinky around the gallery as they drift from art piece to art piece, giggling, reading, listening. Boy asks girl if he can kiss her.

I recommend an exhibition/gallery/museum for a first friend date. You get to talk about what you're looking at and what you like and what you don't and that leads to loads of tangent conversation opportunities. And you can have a coffee after and walk around a bit and decide what you would buy from the gift shop if you had unlimited money. Plus you can pick up the listings and find another show you want to go to and plan a second friend date!

my first date with my bf (who at the time was my friend) was to an art exhibit and then we went to a diner. Art museums / exhibits are cool cause you can discuss each piece if you want! and you can discover what they gravitate towards and think about. also when i asked him out i called him on the phone. soooo nerve wracking but i needed to let him know i was serious. good luck my friend.

at my local art museum on valentine’s day, i watched an older man walk up to his companion (another older man), put his hand on his shoulder, and say, “i have a personal story to tell you” while guiding him to the piece that evoked said personal story
i don’t know how long they had known each other, but they got to know each other a little better in that museum ✨

I went on a date this morning and it was sweet and fun and now I feel like I can do it again and it was so nice to meet a new person I’ve never known before. Incredible to know other people do exist.
