I have such a vivid memory of my first issue - Ellen Page and Allia Shawkat on the cover. Iโve read since I was in high school and now my husband always gets me the new copy when he sees it out.
I love this publication! I have recently signed up to their newsletter after following their instagram for a while. They are always discussing really wonderful and weird pockets of pop culture. From the power of Jane Fondaโs hair to a piece on How Late Stage Capitalism Changed the Real Housewives Shtick. The editors and writers are very cool and smart and it feels like a breath of fresh air in today's media - wrapped up in an oversized glittering pink bow.
Follows the lives of high school girls in Brooklyn over three years and their intimate struggles among their friends and family - becoming independent, deciding on colleges, & navigating NYC. I remember there were details about the girlsโ lives that I never saw shown in movies about teenagers before. The documentary captures their desires to find their purpose and transition from childhood to adulthood in such beautiful shots & honest conversations.
