I feel you, I studied abroad when the pound to dollar exchange rate was 2 to 1 and I literally had no money. I tried to feed myself as cheaply as I could for normal lunches and dinners to save money. Sandwiches and pasta with tuna salad. It's a special kind of hell when you can watch everyone around you spend money like it's free and you can't. Also take advantage of where you are living, I got to know my city better than anyone because I wasn't jetting off somewhere every weekend. And remember how lucky you are to have this opportunity, many people don't get to study abroad!

I was incredibly financially irresponsible last and have forced myself to live a hermetic frugal lifestyle until my checking account is not so anemic. Foregoing all the usual sweet treats and $20 lunches has forced me to start cooking more and more holistically, not buying more weed as soon as i run out has made me more productive, and my saturday and sunday mornings aren’t defined by nursing a hangover from the previous night’s expenditures at the bar. There’s something to be said about the purgatory between not being able to make rent and carelessly purchasing $8 coffees

If the voice in your head is being too mean ask it if it would talk to someone you love this way. My internal monologue can be a 💩 and this sometimes can help it be more constructive
